Alumni Association of GEC-NIT Raipur, Mumbai ChapterCelebrates “Synchrony 26” in Mumbai: A Powerful Display of Global Networking and Giving Back
NAVI MUMBAI, 29 March 2026 – The Mumbai Chapter of the Alumni Association of GEC NIT Raipur hosted its signature annual family meet, “Synchrony 26,” at the Navi Mumbai Merchant Gymkhana, Vashi. The event brought together over 125 attendees, including 85 distinguished alumni and their families, for an evening of professional synergy and social bonding.
A Legacy of Leadership :
The ceremony commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting by a panel of eminent "GEC NITRaTEs" (GEC NIT Raipur Talented Engineers), including Komal Chand Parakh(Secretary, Alumni Association Main Body), K D Diwan (Ex-CMD, Hindustan Copper Ltd & Ex-President of Alumni Main Body), Nand Kumar Varma (IAS, Maharashtra State, retired), Dr. Shailendra Gade (Director General, DRDO), Anil Banchhor (President, Mumbai Chapter), B L Dewangan(Secretary, Mumbai Chapter), and Mentors C S Tomar and Vinay Kekatpure.
A Vision Beyond Socializing :
The leadership emphasized that Synchrony is more than a social gathering; it is a platform for an "extended family" to provide mutual support across the globe. Mr. Banchhor and Mr. Dewangan urged the alumni to transition from beneficiaries of their education to active contributors toward the institute’s growth. Dr. Gade further noted that support extends beyond finances to include mentoring young students.
The Power of the 20,000+ Network :
Mr. Parakh shared stirring success stories that illustrated the association’s impact, including facilitating a special arrangement for the NEET exam for a bedridden student of Mumbai Chapter’s Alumni, finally securing admission to the Medical College; and coordinating the return of 140 persons belonging to 40 families, working at Saudi Arabia during the COVID-19 pandemic. Out of 40, 35 were jobless.
While Mr. Diwan highlighted the roles of illustrious alumni in corporate boardrooms and the need to improve NIT Raipur’s national ranking through infrastructure and innovation, Mr. Nand Kumar conceived the 1000/- Rs per month contribution, to be known as 1000/- club.
Special mention of Tapas Ghosh was made for his decades-long commitment to connecting alumni globally since the 1990s.
Legacy Meets the Future
The gathering showcased a remarkable generational bridge, featuring alumni from the Batch of 1968 to the Batch of 2024. A highlight was the inspiring tale of Mrs. Neela Ingle, who realized a lifelong dream by skydiving from 10,000 feet at the age of 75.
Cultural Extravaganza
The five-hour program was anchored by Mrs. Archana and Mr. Kaushal Jadia. The evening featured a 360-degree video experience and musical performances by Anoop Dua and his team, including Mr Diwan, Pradeep Ramteke, B Balasubrahmanyam, Rajesh Mishra, Nidhi Kaushal, and Anand Daharwal. The audience was also treated to the sounds of Rudransh Sharma on the saxophone and poetic fervor by Ms. Nidhi Shukla and Mr. Razzak.
A Collective Effort
The success of Synchrony 26 was the result of months of preparation by a dedicated core team including Archana Lakhe, Dhananjay Bopche, Anoop Dua, Sanjay Chandgal, KaushalJadia, Arvind Singh, Aayush Patil, Vinay Pratap Singh, Naveen Parganiha, Sardul Rai and Himanshu Kapadia, led by B L Dewangan, Anil Banchhor, C S Tomar, VinayKekatpure, Girish Barjatya, B Balasubrahmanyam, and Sanjay Vyas.
The evening concluded with a collective resolve to meet again soon and continue the mission of giving back to their Alma Mater.
