Global navigational satellite systems have mapped
entire earth’s
resources and movement of most of goods and human resource / activities
are being tracked. The information flow during last thirty years has
been much more than previous three hundred years; greatly influencing
the social evolution process through advancements in information &
communication technologies Under the present era of an Artificial
Intelligence; any person thinking of own thoughts always as the supreme
is living in a world that probably does not exist !!!. NIT Raipur
starting with mining & metallurgy; now with 17 specialities have
nurtured students from 1960 onwards to cast foundation of their chosen
professions in various domains. These professionals are serving the
current level life support and lifestyle needs of world that we all
want. Taking a birds view of over 100000 professionals; with diverse
specialisations and professional experiences worldwide spanning over six
decades; is challenge and a half. Borderless harnessing of collective
intelligence is the order of day in professional activities to usher new
world order. As of now our alumni data base has an outreach to over
17000 professionals majority in 18 countries world wide besides 18
cities having more than ten Alumni and large number of other cities in
India. Some of the Alumni have taken initiatives to form local forums
currently totalling in 130 WhatsApp groups who are regularly doing
exchange of pleasantries on digital platform, need based serving each
other and organising local fun & fellowship events.
The features of extending helping hand, scholarships for economically
deprived / COVID19 affected, celebrating Silver Jubilee and honouring
Golden jubilee re-unions each year in December at the Institute campus
have already made inroads into our sustainable credentials. The website
of Alumni developed from in-house resources of 1972 to current batch of
students is undergoing a sea change to add on new features to make it
more interactive and vibrant for our intermingling. After having cast
our academic foundation in the Institute; with an acquired credentials
until life transition, we all are nurturing our professional & personal
lives in a way that is unique to each one of us. Therefore the Alumni
maintains an ethical standards that goes well with no hierarchical
linkages, a voluntary setup, respect for dignity and diversities of our
personal and professional lives, transparency & impartiality in our
actions / programs, enjoyments through fun and fellowship in all our
activities. We realise that our incredible imprints; through 4 to 5
years of life in the Institute campus; were carved out while the
parental controls were dampening and our own family life yet to begin.
Thus creating a unique space in our minds to forge out everlasting
friendship and fellowship. Many of our professionals have maintained the
friendships with colleagues lasting voyage more than even with their
respective parents and married life, evidencing the metallurgical
strength in our bondages.
It is quite amazing to have a birds view of our Alumni having members
serving at various positions including leading the Corporate Houses of
International Stature, heading a large number of organisations in
Government / Private Sector, running own businesses serving a vast
domain of specialities world wide and enjoying their professional and
personal lives unique to each one of us. Under the given scenario; a
thought of NEST emerges; like birds collect the requisite (tinka) and
constructs the NEST that is all weather proof to sustain heat, winds and
rains built with their professional competency; without going to any
College!!!. We also are inspired to form the NEST for select topics by
drawing the professionals from world wide sources. The lead is taken by
a Chapter on select specialities of their choice. Such as “Industry
Sponsored Research”, “Equity participation by Alumni in Startup of
Alumni”, “Mentoring”, “Sponsored Events Management” , “Managing a
Lecture series by experts” and more…Like watching the flying birds, we
are now talking of “Engineers without Borders”, “Engineering with
Nature” and many more such endeavours. Our Alumni NEST; we believe;
shall also emerge as a major milestone of our identity over the decades
ahead…
In addition to the website; we do have Alumni activities of fun &
fellowship, helping hand going on through the WhatsApp groups and mobile
App Alumni Connect.
The innovative feature of our Website is to blend this think tank of
experienced professionals to blow the wind beneath the wings of the
young generations so that they can professionally fly as high as they
can. The youth energy is set to energise the developmental trajectories
worldwide; we need to appreciate the merits of grazing the matured
competencies as well through Alumni resources. Such combination would
surely lead to an amazing results on the ground. Let us all visualise
the contents & contours of our Alumni comprising of engineers,
architects, bio-technologist, scientists professionally performing
worldwide since 1960 i.e. 61 years timeline to rejuvenate. This great
reservoir of professional talents; besides continuing the fun,
fellowship and welfare activities is now marching ahead for harnessing
their collective intelligence and shaping new ideas into reality using
the features of NEST and WIND. The Golden Tower, housing the Alumni head
quarter is surely set to become our knowledge bank. We are passionate to
create requisite infrastructure, computer facilities and competent human
resources in a decentralised mode of operations with surveillance form

Ujjain, Indore, Sanchi, Pachmarhi are the nearby attractions. Besides leading public sector BHEL for power plants equipment, private sector presence is in food processing, pharmaceutical, carbon electrodes for furnaces and a host of NGO’s. An educational hub covering diversified fields ranging from medical, engineering, architecture, law, journalism, good governance, forest & hotel management and more.
The Bhopal Chapter of GEC-NIT Raipur has been functional formally since 1997. In 2014 we officially launched this Chapter under the aegis of GEC-NIT Raipur Alumni Association. The details of office bearers are attached. In our official WhatsApp group; currently there are 136 members registered with us. We are fortunate to have members from the first batch to recent pass outs. Majority of the members maintain daily interactions / exchange of pleasantries on the WhatsApp group. We organize Annual Get-together with family every year so that we can enrich the bonding amongst the fellow Alumni and their families.
The composition of our members is employees of BHEL, State Government organizations, Architects, Academicians and a good number of entrepreneurs as well. Electrical industries, water resource management, architecture are some of the competencies available amongst our professionals. Some of our Alumni have deep roots of living in this part of the Country and a good number have come and settled from other places. Besides offering opportunities in industries, it is coming up as a hub for organic farming, exploring usage of medicinal plants and is a preferred location for senior living as well. Bhopal is also remembered as a city that encountered the worst industrial disaster way back in mid night of December 03-04, 1984.
We always extend courtesy to the fellow alumni visiting Bhopal from other cities worldwide and ready to help them in the best possible manner. The Bhopal chapter members take the lead to help for the cause of our National Body initiative - Helping Hands. We do many activities for the good of society like plantations, helping deprived sections of societies and last but not the least HELPING EACH OTHER in any situation of crisis. In the Global Pandemic of COVID 19, the Bhopal Chapter members did an excellent job by helping fellow alumni across PAN India.
There are good opportunities for entrepreneurs for start ups and / or even major industries in Bhopal. The innovative endeavors could be in organic farming, forests produce based industries; preferably medicinal plants, products & services for senior living and more. We would be happy to help fellow alumni who wish to start their own venture by sharing our experience & knowledge. We encourage the Alumni worldwide to think on the lines of equity participation by a number of like minded fellows to collectively set up an innovative endeavor in Bhopal. In addition to this there are a good number of NGOs operating in the social domain. Alumni worldwide could think of this window as well to channelise their social endeavors in the heartland of India. There are ample opportunities in the domains of livelihood projects, mobile health units, contributing to the lives in tribal belts, promoting bamboo industries, primary education and many more supporting Madhya Pradesh to achieve 2030 sustainable development goals.
